January can be a quite, reflective time. Everything slows down after the holidays. The snow finally falls and sticks. It's a nice time in my opinion to take the quite moments and dream about the upcoming year. I'm not a huge fan of resolutions-making promises that may or may not last. But instead I like to set goals or aspirations for myself for the coming months.
One tradition I've kept up with for three years now is naming the year ahead with a word (this time it's a phrase), to keep in mind. Something that I would want to look for and make a routine part of my life for 12 months. Along with naming the year I've created a wall calendar in order to follow along with each month. It's been a good practice for me to keep in mind the good things in life. Especially when things are challenging but also when things are going well. And it feels so good to make a mess and paint for an afternoon!
What are some of your dreams for the new year? Do you have any traditions that bring out your creativity? I'd love to hear!
